The entire expenditure for conducting the General Elections is borne by the Government of India.
When State Assembly elections are held independently, the expenditure is borne by the respective State Government. If the elections to the Lok Sabha and State Assembly are held simultaneously, the expenditure is shared equally between the Government of India and the State Government.
