Election Commission of India

These parties were recognised as national parties in April 2018. There has been no change in the number till March 2019. Though some of the national parties did not perform as well in the 2014 General Election, their national party status is intact following an amendment made to the allotment rules. Their status will be reviewed only after the next General Election in 2019. All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is the most recent entrant, recognised in September 2016 as a national party having satisfied one of the conditions mentioned in the Election Symbols Order, i.e., being recognised as state party in at least four states.
