Syama Prasad Mookerjee (1901 – 1953) was an Indian politician who served as a minister in PM Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet. After quitting Indian National Congress (INC), he founded Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), a predecessor to BJP and is regarded as the founder of the BJP.
